Warangal through rich in culture is considered to be a very backward area in the Telangana region. Students from rural background with a meagre financial resource were admitted in this Institution.

The Department of Chemistry was started in august, 1968 with Prof.T.Ravi Prasad.( who assumed many coveted positions in the kakatiya  University including Dean Academic Affairs and Professor, Department of Chemistry, University College of Science, Kakatiya University).

The Department has been in the forefront in catering to the demands of students from the surrounding areas. CKM College was the first Degree College in private sector in educationally backward Telangana region.


Facilities / Instruments

There are three spacious laboratories apart from one laboratory cum balance room available in the department of Chemistry. The laboratories are well equipped with chemicals, glassware and instruments as prescribed in the latest syllabus prescribed by Kakatiya University.  The added advantage is that M.Sc(Chemistry) course is also available in the college and it has a recognised research centre. Digital condutometers, digital Potentiometers, Colorimeters and PM.meters are available to cater to the needs of the students. A separate store room and a preparation room are also available in the department.

Sponsored National Symposium on Emerging Trends in medicinal Chemistry India- A Global Hub.
(2nd and 3 Feb 2008).

Discussion on certificate course in pharmaceutical Chemistry (U.G.C) 25 Sept 2010.


Campus Selections

Students of  “A Certificate course in Pharmaceutical Chemistry”  have been selected by Symed Company in the department of Research and development. They have also promised to provide employment to more students studying the Certificate Course in Pharmaceutical chemistry.


Highlights of the Department

The department of Chemistry has been instrumental in imparting quality education to students coming from the surrounding places of the educationally backward region. The highly qualified staffs, most of them are Doctorates’ in Chemistry, have been ever ready to assist the students not only in the academic matters but also in the field of the career guidance. The department has conducted free coaching for M.Sc (Chemistry) entrance examination and most of the participants have been benefited immensely. Recently the department has started a course in pharmaceutical Chemistry which has the potential of fetching the students enviable jobs in pharmaceutical Industry.
